Kwanyaku to Kasoa Water Interconnection Project
The project involves the transmission of water from Kwanyaku Treatment Plant through a newly-laid 42 kilometre long pipeline from Buduatta to Kasoa where an elevated concrete reservoir has been constructed.
Other works include the reinstatement of reservoirs at Ojobi and Senya Bereku and improvement of distribution mains as well as provision of improved sanitation facilities and standpipes.
The benefit of this project has been the weaning off of Kasoa area from Weija Headworks thereby freeing about 7 million gallons of water daily into the Accra distribution network to improve supply to the seriously distressed eastern parts of the Metropolis namely East Legon, Madina and Adenta.
Other beneficiary communities include Buduatta, Senya Bereku, Fete, Ojobi, Awutu Bereku, Akrama, Buduburam, Kasoa, part of Nyanyano, Okusibrade and Dabanyin.
The project, which has substantially been completed, was undertaken by Denys Engineers and Contractors BV at a cost of 12.23 million Euros.
